The Holyoke Employment Partnership (Holyoke, Massachusetts)
is a collaborative effort that provides workforce development services and
places job applicants who are otherwise difficult to employethnic minorities,
non-skilled individuals, and persons leaving welfare. The Partnership includes
a volunteer tutoring and mentoring program to help adults prepare for the
workforce. The Churchill Neighborhood Partnership is a bimonthly
meeting comprised of residents, business and religious leaders, and members
of local government who serve as advisors to city officials on community needs.
The Partnership helps to implement a visioning process for neighborhood quality
of life issues and public services/infrastructure development. El
Arco Iris (The Rainbow) Youth and Community Arts Center offers a
multi-disciplinary after-school and summer arts program to enhance the development
of young people. Boys and girls, ages nine through 19, and primarily low-income
and Latino, actively participate in many aspects of the program, including
its planning and design.
