Roswell, New Mexico

N.O.T.E. (Nothing Other Than Excellence) is a program established by two high school band students. Emphasizing the contribution of music to reading and math excellence, the program works to inform the community on the importance and benefit of music programs. Community Dental Initiative provides dental care to low-income residents who have a difficult time accessing and affording health care services. The Initiative provides a renovated recreational vehicle that serves as a mobile dental clinic in conjunction with a permanent clinic. In an organized effort to build character in youth, Roswell adopted an asset-building initiative involving parents, schools, churches, government, and neighbors. This included a citywide promotion of Character Counts in the schools and throughout the city.
