Wilson, North Carolina
The Oliver Nestus Freeman Roundhouse Museum provides insight into
contributions of African-America citizens in Wilson, where the museum serves
as a focal point at a major entrance into Wilson. Wilson's Redevelopment
Program addresses community concerns of blight removal, increased homeownership
opportunities and the relocation of families to decent affordable housing
by acquiring and clearing blighted neighborhoods, and constructing new homes.
Citizens For A Healthier Wilson is a collaborative community action
group that is making a difference in the long-term health of the community's
young population, focusing on reducing adolescent pregnancies, improving immunization
rates, and increasing lead screening exams.
