Pompano Beach, Florida
The NIA Housing Program was first designed to assist the City's Community
Development Housing Organizations (CHDO's) in procuring the development of
affordable housing in Pompano Beach. However, the scope of the program has
blossomed into an all inclusive affordable housing program that not only promotes
the stock of affordable housing, but more importantly assists low income and
under-housed families in obtaining new homes. The Bethel Employment and
Business Skills Center is a comprehensive job-training program that assists
low-income individuals who are both unemployed and underemployed in seeking
and maintaining employment. The Kidz-N-The Hood Program is a weekly
TV show produced and scripted by kids of all ages, income levels, and ethnic
backgrounds. The show is designed to help children identify and productively
deal with the various issues they face in today's society, such as teen pregnancy,
drugs, gangs, etc. The show is a positive forum for kids where they can discuss
problems with one another and gain valuable feedback from both peers and adults.
