Community Services

NCL’s Community Services is now helping local government, business, nonprofits and residents work together to:

  • Develop green/sustainable action plans
  • Address racial equity
  • Increase government openness and transparency
  • Advance civic and citizen engagement
  • Conduct resident engagement Transportation Oriented Development

Current Projects:

Sustainable Broomfield:  NCL is partnering with the University of Colorado Denver and the City and County of Broomfield (Colorado) to facilitate sustainable resource conservation in Broomfield.   The process will ultimately lead to a best practices guide as part of a Community Sustainability Civic Engagement Tool Kit that will enable communities across the country to develop their own community-wide green/sustainable action plans.   Broomfield’s Comprehensive Plan Environmental Stewardship section will be reviewed and policies recommended to protect the city’s environment. To promote economic efficiency, and enhanced community vitality.   This project is supported in part through contributions to the National  Civic League from: FlatIron Crossing, MWH Global, Inc., McWhinney, Urban Frontier, and Wal-Mart  Foundation.  Thank you!

Seeding Discussions on Race:  NCL, through the support of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is working with 100 All-America Cities to engage in dialogues that build civic engagement and racial equity.   If you are interested in participating, please contact NCL.
