Safe Kids/Safe Streets Spring 2003 Cluster Meeting
March 2003
Dear Safe Kids/Safe Streets Learning Community and Guests:
Welcome to the Safe Kids/Safe Streets Spring 2003 Cluster Meeting! As Training
and Technical Assistance Coordinators for the National Safe Kids/Safe Streets
(SKSS) Demonstration Initiative, the National Civic League is pleased to welcome
you to this meeting which focuses on the Application of the Safe Kids/Safe
Streets Initiative on the Future: Past, Present, & Future. This
cluster meeting is intended to be a review of what we have learned, demonstrated,
and accomplished, as well as an analysis of what we would do differently.
We will be mapping our next steps and examining how we intend to sustain our
efforts, and determining how all of this may inform the broader arena of child
maltreatment, prevention and intervention.
At this meeting we cover the following:
- Accomplishments of the SK/SS Sites in the Four Core Elements
- Achievements of the SK/SS Sites Towards Sustainability
- Future Goals of the SK/SS Sites
- Most Significant National Achievements of Safe Kids/Safe Streets
- Lessons Learned and the Application to Other Communities and Initiatives
We have accomplished much and have come a long way during the last 5 ½
years. We have grown together as individuals and as a Learning Community.
As with the change theory that we discussed at the beginning of this initiative,
we are at the point where we are reevaluating our efforts before moving to
the next phase. We stand ready to explore the implications of our efforts.
This is not the end, rather the beginning-we're moving from the classroom
to the broader arena.
We extend a special thank you to the members of the Cluster Planning Team,
OJJDP, IEL, Westat, Trish, Jennie and our panelists for your input and support
throughout this process.
Yours in Peace,
National Civic League
Federal-Community Partnerships Team
